Who we are

Hash (“we”, “us”) is a tech hiring product for job seekers, students / new grads, and recruiters. This policy covers the Hash website, apps, APIs, hangouts, matching, jobs, profiles, and related services (together, the “Service”). Questions: Contact.

Information we collect

Depending on how you use Hash, we may collect:

• Account data — name, email, profile photo, and sign-in details from Google OAuth when you log in.
• Profile data — title, company, school, degree, graduation year, years of experience, skills, career summary, LinkedIn, resume file or text, and whether you are on a student or experienced path.
• Recruiter / company data — company name, company email verification, job posts, and hangout settings.
• Applications & access requests — job applications, Campus / Role hangout requests, notes, and match scores when you use AI Match.
• Communications — emails we send (e.g. invites, approvals), contact-form messages, and in-product alerts.
• Calendar (recruiters) — if you connect Google Calendar, we store OAuth tokens as needed to create events and Meet links for live hours you schedule.
• Usage & technical data — IP-related geo checks where enabled, session cookies, device / browser basics, and logs needed to run and secure the Service.

How we use information

• Create and maintain your account and session.
• Show the right product surface (Campus for students / new grads; jobs and Role hangouts for experienced seekers; recruiter tools).
• Power job listings, applications, hangouts, approvals, and AI Match (including embeddings / ranking when configured).
• Send transactional email (approvals, invites, notifications).
• Schedule live hours and Meet links when Calendar is connected.
• Operate, secure, debug, and improve the Service.
• Comply with law and enforce our policies.

Who can see your information

• Recruiters may see applications, profiles, and hangout requests related to their roles or Campus rooms they manage.
• Other users may see limited profile or presence info in hangouts and public surfaces you choose to join.
• Admins may access account and support data to operate Hash.

Service providers

We use third parties to run Hash. They process data only to provide their services to us, for example:

• Google — sign-in, and Calendar / Meet when you connect them.
• Email delivery (e.g. Resend) — transactional messages.
• AI / vector providers (e.g. Gemini, Pinecone) — matching and related features when enabled.
• Hosting and infrastructure for the app and data storage.

Their own privacy policies apply to their processing. We do not sell your personal information.

Cookies & sessions

Hash uses cookies and similar technologies for authentication and session management (for example, NextAuth / Auth.js session cookies). You can control cookies in your browser; blocking them may prevent sign-in or core features from working.

Data retention

We keep account, profile, application, and hangout data while your account is active and as needed to operate the Service. You may ask us to delete or correct information via Contact. Some records may be retained where required for security, disputes, or legal obligations.

Your choices

• Update or remove profile fields in profile setup.
• Disconnect Google Calendar from recruiter settings when available.
• Sign out to end your session.
• Contact us to request access, correction, or deletion of personal data we hold about you.

Children

Hash is aimed at people exploring tech jobs and hiring. It is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction). Do not use the Service if you are under that age.

International & security

Data may be processed in the United States or other places where we or our providers operate. We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of Hash after changes means you accept the updated policy.
